The story & photographs

Stogo (Mali i Stogoit) is one of the mountains that rise above Vlora, crowned by Maja e Stogoit at 1,825 metres. It is far less known than Çika or Qorre — and that is exactly its appeal: wide ridges, silence, and views that sweep from the mountains of the interior to the Bay of Vlora and the sea.

The climb

The route to the summit follows open, rocky ridges with little shade and no water along the way. In winter and spring the upper slopes are often covered in snow, which turns the climb into a real mountain adventure. It is a hike for experienced walkers — go with someone who knows the route, start early, and carry plenty of water and warm layers.
